Brynnlee Hampton Texas Teen Fatally Shot in Incident Involving Underage Firearm Possession

Brynnlee Hampton Texas Teen Fatally Shot in Incident Involving Underage Firearm Possession
The Issue
Justice for Brynnlee Hampton
On New Year’s Night, Brynnlee Hampton’s life was taken in a completely preventable act of recklessness.
Brynnlee was a good, God-loving teen who shared His message and positivity with everyone she encountered. She was light. She was kindness. She lived her faith out loud and poured into others without hesitation.
That light was extinguished by a 17-year-old who never should have had a gun in the first place.
Jeremiah Luke Matthews was underage and irresponsibly handling a firearm he never should have had access to. His behavior that night reflected a disregard for safety and the serious responsibility that comes with possessing a weapon. After the shooting, he did not render aid and instead attempted to conceal the firearm. In addition, concerns have been raised about prior behavior that reflected poor judgment and disregard for the safety of others. There has been no public demonstration of meaningful remorse.
This was not an unavoidable tragedy. It was preventable. A minor with a firearm. Carelessness with deadly consequences. A life stolen.
Brynnlee was a daughter, a sister, a friend, a student, and a young woman with a future full of promise. She was a proud and loving big sister — a strong role model to her younger siblings, who will now grow up missing their sister longer than they will ever have known her. Her family will never again celebrate her milestones, hear her laugh, or watch her grow into who she was meant to become.
We are calling for the maximum sentence allowable under the law. Accountability must reflect the severity of this loss.
If this tragedy has affected you, your family, or the people you love, stand beside Brynnlee’s family. Sign this petition. Help us demand justice.
By signing, you are not only calling for accountability — you are helping honor Brynnlee’s legacy. A legacy of faith, kindness, and light. We refuse to let her story end in silence.
Brynnlee mattered. She still does. And her legacy deserves to be protected.
