Whereas: The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution clearly states that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed; and

Whereas: This inalienable, individual right clearly includes the right of all law-abiding citizens to purchase and carry a gun for self-defense; and the will of the people is to decriminalize carrying a concealed handgun without a concealed handgun permit for citizens who are legally eligible under state and federal law to possess a handgun; and

Whereas: Requiring law-abiding citizens to ask government permission through the permit system before they can exercise their constitutional right to bear arms is a clear violation of that right; and

Whereas: Real-life experience and extensive research both clearly demonstrate that restricting the right to bear arms in self-defense only encourages violent crime; and

Whereas: Constitutional Carry would allow every law-abiding Illinois citizen the freedom to carry a gun to protect themselves and their families without needless delays and fees.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, to protect liberty and the right of individuals to defend themselves and their families, we demand you to eliminate all fees and penalties on Illinois citizens, who are simply exercising their Second Amendment rights, and both cosponsor and seek roll call votes on a Illinois Constitutional Carry bill.

Be it further resolved that we, the undersigned, demand a continuation of our concealed carry permitting system, which will allow reciprocity for those wanting to comply with other states' concealed carry laws.

Be it further resolved that we, the undersigned, demand a repeal of 430 ILCS 65 Firearm Owners Identification Card Act and amend the Illinois Constitution SECTION 22. RIGHT TO ARMS to repeal the portion which reads: "Subject only to the police power".

Be it further resolved that we, the undersigned citizens of the State of Illinois demand your full support of Constitutional Carry and that laws prohibiting unrestricted concealed carry be eliminated in Illinois.
