The Issue

To our fellow New Yorkers,

We are graduates of the Bronx High School of Science writing in urgent support of our peer and former classmate, Zohran Mamdani, who is running for Mayor of our beloved New York City.

We are grateful for the education Bronx Science provided us. Among our many concerns, we wish that caliber of education were the rule, not the exception, in New York and across the country. But this letter is not a detailed list of all our grievances. Given the rapid decline of America’s democracy and New York City’s quality of life, we are sure you share them.

Instead, this letter is a call to action. We ask that we unite behind a candidate who can protect us, begin to reverse the harms caused by both city and federal leadership, and chart a new, more prosperous path forward.

This letter is a plea for you to endorse, support, and ultimately elect Zohran for New York City.

In recent years, we’ve witnessed a troubling erosion of governance and the logic behind the policies shaping our daily lives. In contrast to our city's current mayor, Eric Adams, who is embroiled by corruption and bribery from foreign governments whilst he saw the deterioration of our city's sanitation, transportation, and public safety services, and the disgraced former governor, Andrew Cuomo, who Zohran handedly defeated in the first round of ranked-choice voting on June 24th, 2025, Zohran Mamdani helped secure over $450 million in relief for taxi drivers under crippling austerity measures, and has built a cross-partisan coalition that will enable New York City to stand firm against federal interference, including theft of over $80 million in city funds.

Unlike his opponents, Zohran Mamdani holds the intellect, soul, and vision to stabilize New York City and place us on the path to sustained growth, security, and opportunity. Zohran is a brilliant, empathetic, once-in-a-generation leader whose coalition-building and problem-solving skills have been evident throughout his years of effective public service in elected office. When asked which foreign countries he'd visit in a recent mayoral debate, unlike candidates who wished to galivant around Europe and Israel, Zohran actually responded rationally: he'd stay in New York City to do his job.

Zohran's critics try to paint his requests for affordable housing, tenants’ rights, a functional MTA, and accountable government as “radical” and idealistic. In reality, Zohran’s solutions are common sense. Every item in Zohran’s platform is legally and economically feasible, and many mayors, here and abroad, have implemented parallel proposals in the last sixty years to astonishingly positive results. Zohran’s detailed proposals, available on his campaign website, are not just exciting, but achievable. If Zohran is elected, we are confident to see:

1. A more prosperous city
2. Improved economic dignity
3. More reliable transportation
4. Greater access to stable housing
5. Safer streets
6. Transparent justice for all
7. Renewed protection of civil liberties

Nothing could be more crucial at this moment of history than electing a truly intelligent, humanistic, liberty-loving person to lead our country’s cultural and economic capitol. We are proud and blessed to be New Yorkers, and we see the chance to be led by Zohran in City Hall as a pivotal step towards making New York City not just recognizable again, but a place of renewed vigor and hope.

Right now, the greatest investment we can make in our city—and ourselves—is electing Zohran for Mayor.

With much love and concern for the greatest city on Earth,

This letter reflects the views of the undersigned, not of all Bronx Science alumni. While our shared education connects us, our endorsement of Zohran comes from deep belief in his leadership—whether or not we’d ever sat in the same classrooms.
