Moving Forward!!!!!

Today we had a conference call with Louisiana State Representative Stephen Dwight (R) District 35 (Lake Charles, LA). The call was very productive and encouraging. Rep. Dwight has agreed to sponsor legislation based on this petition. His staff will begin the drafting of the legislation that will be submitted as a House Bill. Rep. Dwight will begin requesting information from work release programs around the state of Louisiana, this will assist in building our case for getting "Brittany's Law" enacted. We discussed some of the barriers that we may face and alternate plans of action. Rep. Dwight also informed us about a co-sponsor for the bill, this representative is business owner who uses work release inmates, this representative stands behind the premise of this petition. We were also informed that the Calcasieu Parish Sheriffs Office (CPSO) currently uses GPS tracking devices for work release inmates and that the CPSO supports this bill as well.
