Dear Family,

Thank you once again for your powerful presence at the Jamaica Hurricane Melissa Emergency Meeting in Brixton. What we witnessed together — the unity, the urgency and the absolute refusal to accept the UK Government’s inadequate response — has already begun shaping the national direction of this campaign.

Here are the key updates and next steps.

1. Lambeth Wide Conference – Town Hall negotiations underway
We are in active discussions with Lambeth Council to use Lambeth Town Hall for a borough wide conference and stakeholder meeting.

This will bring together
• community groups
• faith organisations
• diaspora businesses
• local housing associations
• councillors and senior council officers

The aim is to create a Lambeth wide coordinated response:
local aid logistics, policy engagement and political organisation.

2. London Wide Summit
We are also planning discussions with the Mayor of London’s Office for a London wide summit, bringing together senior borough leaders, major civil society organisations and key diaspora institutions.

London is home to the largest Jamaican community in Britain. We have a responsibility to lead.

3. National Lobby of Parliament – January 2026
Operation Black Vote is now preparing a National Black Lobby of Parliament for January.

We will meet shortly with Dawn Butler MP, Chair of the APPG Jamaica, to agree:
• the date
• the parliamentary messaging
• the Early Day Motion
• cross party engagement
• diaspora involvement

This will be one of the most significant Caribbean diaspora interventions in recent British political history.

4. National Mobilisation Tour – A Platform for Demanding Increased UK Aid
We will be launching a national mobilisation tour, with meetings across every major UK city where Jamaican and Caribbean communities are based.

These meetings will:

• build grassroots pressure for increased UK aid to Jamaica
• educate communities about the scale of the crisis
• organise local delegations to join the National Lobby of Parliament

If your organisation, church, community centre or network can host a meeting, please contact us immediately.

5. Full Video and Speaker Clips Now Available
The full event recording is here:

Individual speaker videos are also available. Please share widely to build momentum.

6. Petition – Now at 3,300 Signatures. Push Strongly Over the Weekend.
The updated petition has now passed 3,300 signatures. This is an amazing start — but we need to push this into the tens of thousands.

Please sign and share across all your networks, especially this weekend. Many people are only now waking up to the scale of this crisis.

👉 Sign and share: https://bit.ly/3LqjSg5

Keep pressing. Every signature strengthens our hand in Parliament and with the UK Government.

7. Volunteers Needed – International House, Brixton

We are setting up a coordination base at International House in Brixton, and we urgently need volunteers to help deliver the objectives in this update. If yiu can work remotely wed love to hear from you!

If you can offer time — admin support, comms, logistics, community liaison or general assistance — please contact us:

8. What Comes Next?

Over the coming weeks we will:

• confirm Lambeth Town Hall for the borough wide event
• announce the London wide summit
• launch the national mobilisation tour
• publish political briefings
• build local organising teams
• finalise parliamentary engagement structures
• continue pushing for meaningful UK intervention at scale

This is the beginning of a national movement demanding dignity, justice and a serious response to Jamaica’s suffering.

Thank you for your solidarity, your strength and your commitment to our island.

In unity,
