Petition updateBritain Must Stand for Peace, Not War with IranRising Civilian Impact – Britain Must Not Be Drawn Into War
British Iranian DCLondon, United Kingdom
Mar 9, 2026

Thank you for continuing to support this cross-party call to prevent the UK being drawn into an escalating war.

As of the early hours of 8 March, the President of the Iranian Red Crescent (the equivalent of the Red Cross) reported that 9,669 civilian units have been damaged in airstrikes — including 7,943 homes, 1,617 commercial premises, and medical and educational facilities. These figures point to a widening humanitarian crisis affecting families, livelihoods and essential infrastructure.

This comes alongside deeply troubling reports of civilian casualties, including the deaths of schoolgirls in Minab, and increasing displacement across the region.

What is unfolding is no longer an isolated exchange. It is a widening war with serious regional and global consequences. Further escalation risks destabilising energy markets, worsening cost-of-living pressures in the UK, and increasing risks to British personnel and interests abroad.

It is not in the national interest for the United Kingdom to become entangled in another prolonged conflict.

We continue to urge de-escalation, full parliamentary scrutiny of any UK involvement, and renewed diplomatic efforts to bring this war to an end.

Please share the petition and encourage others to add their voice. Britain must stand for international law, civilian protection and a political solution.
