Bring TransPerth Services into Mandogalup

Bring TransPerth Services into Mandogalup
The issue
Over the past couple of years, the suburb of Mandogalup has been establishing at great speed. The developers have provided an impressive place of residence for families with young children, as well as environmental conscience professionals who travel to and from work daily.
Data provided by one local developer, Qube Property highlights statistics which support our need for accessible public transport:
- 500 lots settled in Apsley Estate to date.
- 85 lots due to settle in Apsley Estate over the coming 3 to 6 months.
- 150 lots to be developed and sold over the coming 12-month period.
- Application for approval to develop another 300 further to the South of the existing Apsley Estate Boundary is with the authorities for approval.
- A Traffic Impact Assessment has been completed which demonstrates that ultimately a total of 2,200 will be created between the Apsley & Florence Estates.
The nearest train station is Aubin Grove. And the TransPerth bus does not extend past Hammond Park. We, the residents of Mandogalup kindly request our local MP, Roger Cook, in conjunction with the Minister for Transport, Rita Saffioti to grant additional and urgent funding to extend the public bus service into Apsley and Florence Estates.
An increase in residential and commercial development of the area brings with it some perils for students making the long walk to the nearest bus stop which is across Rowley Road. The number of trucks that drive down Rowley Road every hour is of great concern to parents, as their children navigate crossing that busy thoroughfare before and after school.
In addition to that, the weather poses obstacles too, both in 35+ degree days in summer and the wet & wild winter.
Many residents are driving their children across to Hammond Park Secondary College where they can meet transport services and make their way to school from there. This increases traffic around Hammond Park unnecessary.
To make energy and cost-efficient transport accessible to the growing area, we propose the current TransPerth bus services are extended into Apsley Estate winding around into Florence and back out. This would allow more students and adults to access public transport safely and conveniently, allowing more cars to stay off the road, and more availability to services for those residents without vehicles.
