NOTE: In case you guys were wondering, I really want the TV series to be animated. Sure, I wouldn't mind if it was live-action, but I think it'd work better if it was animated.

Hi everyone, my name is Maude, and I bring to you guys today a petition about Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

A TV series was announced in August 2018, when then-20th Century Fox CEO Stacey Sinder said that a Wimpy Kid TV show, along with Ice Age and Night at the Museum TV shows, was in development. In 2019, the Wimpy Kid TV show was confirmed to still be in the works for Disney Plus. Over time, however, the series was retooled into several animated films, one in 2021, one in 2022, and one in 2023, with most likely more to come.

While what we have now is alright, I still imagine and grieve over what could’ve been. We could’ve gotten the most beautiful, funny, and heartwarming stories written by the most talented writers out there, think about that. Plus, I can tell that so many Wimpy Kid fans were really looking forward to watching this show that had so much potential, and I can tell that they are pretty disappointed when it was replaced with the movie adaptations.

Furthermore, there was the possibility of original and fresh stories not yet seen in any of the books, and the fact that we never got to see them is heartbreaking for all of us.

However, I still have hope that this series still has a chance at life and that it can still happen eventually, and that is why I’m making this petition today.

If you’re as passionate about this unproduced series as I am, please sign and share this petition as soon as possible. If it gets enough signatures, it just might get noticed by Disney. 

If I get told to take this petition down, I will comply with that request of course, but I will never give up hope until it gets made. Together, we can prove to Disney that we still think the Wimpy Kid TV show has a lot of potential and that it could entertain fans for generations to come.
