Bring the Tyne & Wear Metro system back into public ownership

The Issue

The metro system consistently runs a sub par service. Constant cancellations, delays, incredibly rude staff, despite constant promises and spending millions on new trains that are repeatedly delayed with the few in use not working properly, and then have the audacity to keep raising ticket prices while the service gets worse with seemingly no accountability. Instead of using that money to reinvest and modernise infrastructure, they waste it on a new app that doesn't work properly and more staff to enforce ticket fines.

People rely on this service to get to work, for their lively hoods, it is a public service and if a private company can't run it responsibly then it should be brought into the ownership of the people that actually use the service. The Tyne & Wear Metro system used to be one of the best public service systems in the country and now its just a shameful joke. Nexus is scamming the lot of us and taking us for mugs. And they wonder why nobody wants to pay for tickets.

Metro apologises...
