As a senior at J.H. Rose High School, I have witnessed first-hand the fading of our school spirit over the years. This year, in what should be the most memorable part of our schooling, the planned spirit week and homecoming activities simply don't match the energy, enthusiasm, and pride we feel for our school. As this is my last year, I am compelled to seek changes that will truly honor our time here, by hosting events that build unity, celebrate our achievements, and create fond memories for all.

The tradition of spirit week and homecoming has always been about fostering a deep sense of community, unity, and joy. It is a time where we, as students, should feel connected to one another and take pride in representing our school. However, the current plans do not offer events that we will carry with us beyond high school as cherished memories, nor do they capture the essence of what it means to be part of J.H. Rose.

I propose that we involve both students and staff in re-imagining these activities to make them more inclusive, energetic, and reflective of our diverse identities. Let's have themes that excite everyone, events that encourage participation from each grade level, and moments that truly recognize the spirit of J.H. Rose.

An inclusive approach can reinvigorate our spirit with activities such as:
- Music and dance festivals featuring both local and student talents
- Interactive games and competitions that not only involve sports but also arts, academics, and creativity
- Traditions that celebrate achievements of the past while making memories for the future

we’re not here to complain we’re here to make things better. as students, we want to feel proud of our school again and bring back the spirit that’s been missing.
