As a long-time fan of Tolkien's the Lord of the Rings, I had always wanted to see a production of the musical adaptation. Unfortunately, there hadn't been any production anywhere for over a decade.

But, in 2023, the Watermill Theatre created a brand new, fresh production that had a sold-out run. When it came to Chicago, I was one of the first to buy tickets.

It was one of the best theatergoing experiences I've ever had. This isn't just my personal experience; countless audience members have found themselves equally touched by this remarkable musical. The power of its narrative, combined with breathtaking performances and unforgettable music, makes it a transformative experience that everyone should have the opportunity to see. Critics and audiences have hailed it for creative staging and powerful score, proving its power to touch a national, if not global audience. 
However, as it stands, this show has remained limited in scope and geographical reach. Most of the United States has been deprived of this unique musical experience, with no current plans for a US tour or a Broadway opening. This is a considerable void in our cultural landscape - Broadway or a US national tour would give millions of people the chance to witness the musical magic themselves. 
We believe in the power of Tolkien's story and this new production. It's time for 'The Lord of the Rings: A Musical Tale' to enchant audiences beyond its current boundaries and assert its rightful place on the Broadway stage.
