The Issue

We, the undersigned, are asking Omniplex Great Park to introduce dedicated Parent & Baby screenings. These are regular film showings of new releases specifically tailored for parents or carers with infants under 12 months.

These screenings are already a valued offering at cinemas across the UK and Ireland. They feature lower sound levels, dimmed lighting, relaxed house rules, and a welcoming environment where it's understood that babies may cry, feed, and need changing. No one stares, and no one is judged.

We believe it's time for Omniplex Great Park to bring this supportive, inclusive service to our community. Here's why:

💡 1. Improving Mental Health & Combating Isolation

Postnatal depression (PPD) and perinatal mental health issues affect thousands of new parents each year in the UK and Ireland. Lack of social connection, difficulty leaving the house, and loss of identity are all contributing factors.
A short outing like going to the cinema can have a powerful positive impact. Parent & Baby screenings give parents a reason to leave the house, engage with the world, and feel like adults again — without needing to leave their baby behind.

🧸 2. Creating a Judgment-Free, Baby-Friendly Space

For many new parents, the idea of going to a “normal” screening is anxiety-inducing.
Baby cries? Disapproving looks. Need to breastfeed? No privacy. Need to walk around to soothe a baby? Not allowed.
Parent & Baby screenings remove those stressors entirely. These events are specifically designed to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome.

💷 3. Untapped Revenue in Off-Peak Hours

Cinemas are often underutilised on weekday afternoons, which is the perfect time for Parent & Baby screenings. With minor operational adjustments and no changes to staffing, Omniplex can unlock new footfall and revenue streams during periods that are typically low-traffic.

Moreover, parents attending these screenings often buy snacks, coffees, and even gift cards, which in turn boosts secondary spending. Repeat visits also encourage brand loyalty once children are older and may tap into the birthday party market, too.

🤝 4. Strengthening Local Community & Social Equity

In today’s world, parents are often isolated, especially those without access to flexible childcare or nearby family. Offering a space for them to meet, connect, and unwind helps to build a stronger, more connected community.
By providing inclusive programming, Omniplex shows it values all members of the local population — not just traditional moviegoers. It’s a meaningful gesture of support to a group whose needs are often overlooked.

🌱 5. An Investment in Lifelong Customers

Brand loyalty starts early. Parents who feel welcomed and seen are more likely to return: first as young families, then with older children, and beyond. This is a chance to build goodwill with an entire generation of future cinema lovers.

What We're Asking For:

We are kindly requesting that Omniplex Great Park trial Parent & Baby screenings once a week.

This initiative aligns with your cinema’s values of inclusivity, community, and accessibility and has proven success at other cinema chains. With a growing population of young families in the area, this is a timely and community-driven step forward.
