Behind the scenes
My dear friend Emma Thompson is such a Massive fan of #ChittyChittyBangBang that a lot of the locations in Chitty were used in scenes with my RollsRoyce for Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang Hambleden near Henley-on-Thames for example was a big location share.
The whole village of Hambledon was transformed into a film set, turfed pavements, mud covered tarmac road, fake thatch on tiled roofs, fake topiary bushes in gardens, fake blacksmith shop & village store, 100 extras in period clothing, horses & carts it was real magic
We spent a day filming me drive through the village following the route Dick van Dyke drove Chitty Chitty Bang Bang all those years before!
Another location is Britwell Hill which featured at the end of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (only a few folks know this location) so again Emma & the production team made another little private homage to Chitty in Nanny McPhee by having my Rolls-Royce drive down the same road.
Internal scenes were filmed in the Harry Potter blue screen stage at Shepperton with the Actors, but the external shot is on Britwell Hill.
