Maya Imamori is a Japanese actress who portrays Sumino Ichikawa/Gozyu Unicorn in Number One Sentai Gozyuger, the 49th entry in Toei Company's Super Sentai franchise. On November 8th, it was announced by Toei and TV-Asahi, the channel that airs Super Sentai, that Maya was found drinking underage (Maya is 19, and the legal drinking age in Japan is 20). In response, Maya's acting agency, Seju, fired her, Toei kicked Maya out of the show, and TV Asahi removed Sumino's character profile on their dedicated website for Gozyuger. Additionally, the 37th episode of the show was heavily edited, removing every appearance of Sumino out of her Gozyu Unicorn suit, and dubbing over her lines with a new voice actress, cruelly trampling over Maya's career and contribution for the show over a small felony.

As a fan of Gozyuger and Super Sentai in general, I am angered over this disrespectful treatment of both Maya and the show as a whole. It was a great overreaction to fire her for simply drinking under the legal age, and  disregard her entire career like that. Think of all the children who like Sumino. How would they feel, seeing their favorite character suddenly written off with no explanation, when they likely have no idea about the reason behind her firing? Not to mention that now the show's crew will have to work harder and remove Sumino from future episodes that have already been filmed.

I request from Seju, the agency that Maya was part off until the incident, to take her back and apologize for their poor treatment of this aspiring young actress. If that doesn't work, I wish that everything will go well for her, and that Toei and TV-Asahi would help her find her place a new agency and get her back in the show, and if possible, release the unedited version of episode 37 with Sumino's scenes. The damage to Maya's career and us viewers' trust was already done, so the least you can do is to try and revert it.
