We, the loyal fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs, respectfully call for Joe Bowen to return to television broadcasts.

Joe Bowen — known affectionately as the “Voice of the Leafs” — has been a central part of the Toronto Maple Leafs experience for decades. His passion, excitement, and unmistakable energy perfectly capture what it means to be a Leafs fan.

Today, Joe continues to call Leafs games brilliantly on radio, but Leafs Nation believes his talents deserve to be showcased on television where a new generation of fans can fully experience the magic of a Joe Bowen call.

Here’s why it matters:

 • Joe Bowen has been an iconic figure in Leafs broadcasting since 1982.

 • His legendary calls (“Holy Mackinaw!”) are forever etched in Leafs history.

 • No one captures the highs and lows of a Leafs season the way he does.

 • His genuine passion, energy, and deep love for the franchise reflect the feelings of millions of fans.

Sportsnet and TSN have done a great job bringing Leafs games to national audiences, but bringing Joe Bowen back to TV would strengthen the broadcast and deepen the connection with fans.

We ask Sportsnet, TSN, and the Toronto Maple Leafs to recognize the importance of Joe Bowen to Leafs Nation and reinstate him as a television voice for Toronto Maple Leafs games.

Joe Bowen is part of the soul of Leafs hockey. His rightful place is both on radio and on television.
