Bring HIGH QUALITY MARKETS to Mission Grove in Riverside, CA!
The Issue
🚨 UPDATE: 300+ Signatures! Proving Riverside Needs Diverse, High-Quality Shopping 🚨
We just hit a massive milestone—over 300 neighbors have signed this petition! Thank you all so much for your incredible support. This proves that our community is completely united in demanding better amenities for Riverside.
As we recently shared, our local City Council confirmed the old Kmart lot is locked in for townhomes, meaning that specific spot is officially out. But we are absolutely not stopping here. Our mission is more important than ever.
While the city continues to add housing, our neighborhood's commercial spaces are shrinking. We don't just want empty storefronts or more high-density housing—we deserve a vibrant, diverse, premium grocery and shopping experience right here in Riverside. We are tired of driving 40+ minutes to Chino or Orange County just to get quality global ingredients, fresh produce, and a great food court experience.
Here is what we are doing next: We recently received incredibly valuable feedback from the Korean American Center, suggesting we reach out to Zion Market, a fantastic premium Korean grocery chain headquartered right here in Southern California. Because they are local, they understand the Inland Empire market perfectly.
We are actively exploring this exciting new lead and expanding our outreach, but our ultimate goal remains the same: we welcome any new, high-quality, diverse market that is ready to bring a premium shopping experience to Riverside.
Local leadership has already been advocating to bring a premium Asian supermarket to the city—the corporate offices just need to see that the community demand is real.
Let's keep showing them exactly what Riverside wants. Please keep signing, sharing, and telling your friends—we are making our voices heard!

UPDATE (June,20 2026): The city just approved 340+ apartments for the Kmart lot!
We recently learned directly from City Councilmember Chuck Conder that the vacant Kmart lot has unfortunately already been "entitled" by the city and is officially slated to become a massive new townhome and apartment complex. Like many of you in the neighborhood, I am deeply frustrated by this. We wanted diverse commercial amenities and a great place to shop, not high-density housing that will just add to our local traffic!
However, our push for H Mart is far from over.
Councilmember Conder actually shared some incredible news: he has personally met with H Mart's corporate team at real estate events in Las Vegas for the last two years, actively trying to convince them to open a location right here in Riverside!
The problem? H Mart corporate told him they haven't seen enough "active interest" from our community yet to justify opening a store.
We need to prove them wrong. Mission Grove and the greater Riverside area still have massive retail potential and plenty of other vacant commercial spaces that would be perfect for a premium grocery store. We are tired of driving 40+ minutes to Chino or OC just to get quality global ingredients, fresh produce, and a great food court experience.
We need to give our City Council the grassroots ammunition they need to bring to their next meeting with H Mart. Let's show corporate that Riverside residents are united, our demand is real, and we are ready for them.
Please continue to sign and share this petition to bring H Mart to Riverside!

The place in Mission Grove Plaza has been closed for a long time, leaving a void in our neighborhood. Riverside, and particularly the Mission Grove area, is in dire need of better access to premium Asian groceries and culinary experiences. The community here is vibrant and inclusive, yet we lack convenient access to quality Asian products that so many families and residents value.
Currently, Inland Empire residents, including families, students, and workers, must drive 30 to 45 minutes to Diamond Bar, Chino, or Orange County just to shop at high-quality Asian supermarkets like H Mart. This is not only inconvenient but also costly in terms of time and transportation expenses.
The large retail space at 375 E Alessandro Blvd in the Mission Grove Plaza represents a perfect opportunity for H Mart to make a real difference. Bringing a world-class market like H Mart to our community will not only meet the growing demand for Asian groceries but also enhance the local economy. It would attract visitors, create jobs, and elevate Mission Grove as a regional destination for Asian culinary experiences.
Supporting this initiative is essential for residents who value diversity in food options and want to embrace the cultural richness that a store like H Mart would offer. It’s not just about groceries; it's about community, culture, and convenience.
Let's make Mission Grove the next home for an H Mart and bring positive change right to our doorstep. Please sign this petition to urge H Mart's executives to consider this prime location for their next store. Your signature can make a real difference in enhancing our community’s quality of life.
