BRING HEE HAW HOME
The Issue
Hee Haw wasn't just a donkey. He was family.
He was a one-year-old miniature donkey who had been bottle-fed, raised with love, and trusted the very people around him. He brought happiness to children at petting zoos and was deeply loved by his owner, Hannah Israel. But that all changed when Hee Haw was shot and killed by a law enforcement officer on the property he called home. Hannah has already endured the heartbreak of losing an innocent animal she loved like family. Now, instead of being allowed to bring him home and lay him to rest, she is reportedly being told she must pay for the return of his remains by the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Imagine losing a beloved member of your family under such heartbreaking circumstances, only to be handed a bill just to bring them home. Hasn't Hannah suffered enough?
This is about more than money. It's about compassion, dignity, and basic human decency. Hannah cannot bring Hee Haw back to life. She cannot erase what happened that night or the pain of losing him. But she should be able to bring him home without being forced to pay another price for a tragedy she never asked for. If we allow this to happen without speaking up, what message are we sending to other families whose beloved animals are killed during law enforcement operations? That their grief comes with a price tag? That they must pay to recover the remains of an animal they never wanted taken from them? No grieving family should have to fight this hard just to say goodbye.
The time to act is NOW. We are calling on the Georgia Department of Agriculture and its Law Enforcement Division to immediately release Hee Haw's remains to Hannah Israel, without charging her a single penny. No more delays. No unnecessary fees. No more heartbreak. This family deserves the opportunity to give Hee Haw a proper farewell and finally begin finding some peace. We cannot undo what happened to this innocent little donkey, but together, we can stand up and demand that Hannah be treated with the compassion and respect she deserves. Please sign this petition and share it with everyone you know. Your signature is more than a name. It's a message that compassion still matters and that we will not remain silent when something is wrong.
Hee Haw will never get to run through his pasture again. He will never get another treat, another hug, or another moment with the family who loved him.
But he can still come home.
BRING HEE HAW HOME. LET HANNAH SAY GOODBYE. NOT ONE PENNY MORE.
