Bring French Immersion to Angus!

The Issue

As a parent in Angus, I want my child to have access to French Immersion education close to home.

Currently, families must send their elementary aged children to Ferndale Woods ES and Ardagh Bluffs PS in Barrie—schools that are already over capacity. This often means long commutes and disconnection from our local community, making the program less accessible for many families.

With a new elementary school set to open in Angus in Fall 2027, there is a clear opportunity to introduce a local French Immersion program. Interest in bilingual education is strong in our community, but current enrolment numbers don’t reflect this because families are forced to make decisions based on limited access.

French Immersion provides valuable cognitive, academic, cultural, and long-term professional advantages. Our children deserve the chance to access these opportunities within their own community.

We are asking the Simcoe County District School Board to consider bringing a French Immersion program to Angus—so our children can learn, grow, and thrive close to home.
