Bring free mobile healthcare to Central Oklahoma
The Issue
For nearly a decade, I have dedicated my life to emergency medicine and community health, witnessing firsthand the struggles of individuals who are forced to rely on emergency services simply because they lack access to basic healthcare. This isn't just a professional observation; it's a personal mission. Over time, I've come to realize that numerous barriers stand in the way of people receiving the care they urgently need and deserve. Stories of individuals postponing necessary care due to fear of financial hardship or sheer inaccessibility are all too common in the state of Oklahoma.
It's a well-documented fact that Oklahoma ranks poorly in terms of healthcare access; studies by leading health organizations consistently show the state's below average standing in both healthcare availability and outcomes. According to the 2022 Commonwealth Fund's state health system performance scorecard, Oklahoma ranked 49th overall, highlighting a pressing need for change.
That's why I've partnered with like-minded professionals to develop Common Thread: a free mobile healthcare clinic. Our vision is simple yet transformative—we intend to deliver compassionate, accessible care, directly reaching out to those communities in Oklahoma that need it the most. Common Thread is more than just a mobile clinic; it's a beacon of hope, a bridge to better health for underprivileged and isolated communities.
However, bringing this vision to life requires community engagement and support. We are appealing to local healthcare organizations, businesses, and community leaders in Central Oklahoma to join us in this endeavor. By forming strategic partnerships, we can ensure the success and sustainability of this initiative, breaking down barriers and creating pathways to consistent and reliable healthcare.
Moreover, the long-term benefits of such a program extend beyond immediate care. By reducing dependency on emergency services, we alleviate strain on local hospitals and are able to use resources more effectively. This is not just a healthcare initiative; it's an economic one as well, offering significant cost savings to the healthcare system, while also improving the quality of life for residents.
By signing this petition, you are voicing your support for a plan that addresses one of our community's most urgent needs—delivering healthcare where it's needed most, free of charge, and with dignity. Stand with us to ensure that every resident in Central Oklahoma can access the basic healthcare they deserve. Please sign this petition today and help us bring Common Thread to life.
