I just heard from BLM this morning that no one has adopted any WATER CANYON babies yet. You can see their video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMlDMhN-mzA I took it last Friday.
These wild foals were captured from the WATER CANYON portion of the Antelope Herd Management Area in eastern Nevada and they are up for adoption through BLM. They already have ONE STRIKE against them because they were not adopted at the trap site adoption on Dec. 5th. Learn about how strikes are counted here: http://protectmustangs.org/?p=2811
The WATER CANYON babies were ripped form their mamas after being trapped and sadly will never see them again. That's why it's so important to adopt them in pairs--so they can have a family/herd member with them for life.
Nine weanlings and two yearlings are being held together at the National Wild Horse and Burro Center at Palomino Valley, north of Reno, Nevada. They need to be saved now!
The WATER CANYON babies are available for walk-up adoption from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturdays. If you cannot make it there personally you can legally appoint someone to act on your behalf. You will be required to sign the BLM's care agreement yourself and request expedited mail.
All of the babies have received vaccinations and their bloodwork is completed. Brand inspections will be performed and health certificates issued on all adopted wild horses.
Applications are available for download (.pdf) at http://on.doi.gov/1A0eAfw.
If you are sending your wild baby to a trainer then their facilities should be listed on the application with their high fencing. Once your baby is halter-gentled you can put them with other horses in a normal setting. We can recommend trainers in the Reno, area if you want to have your wild babies halter-gentled before you transport them.
The cost for adoptions $125. each but the realistic cost includes halter-gentling a pair of young wild horses, or the cost for a BLM approved pen with high fencing to do it yourself, and either way you have the cost to transport them to you.

If you run into any BLM Red Tape contact Protect Mustangs (Contact@ProtectMustangs.org) We will try to help you find solutions so you can adopt your mustang babies. You can also call me at 415-531-8454.
You know BLM has no shelter at Palomino Valley. The captive pens are going to get mucky, filled with manure and urine with no dry place to lie down, so please share this update widely to get them out and keep sharing the petition to bring shade and shelter to all the other captives!
The WATER CANYON babies need to get out of the BLM pens and into loving homes before they get sick from being under so much stress in the feedlot setting. In nature they would have their mamas to help them stay healthy and warm but their mamas are gone.
HELP the babies get to safe places! Please email this to every horse person you know and share this update on Facebook, Twitter and other forms of social media.
Thank you and Bless you!
With gratitude,
Anne
