Bring Eco-Friendly Lids to Major Fast Food Chains in America

Bring Eco-Friendly Lids to Major Fast Food Chains in America
The Issue
Plastic waste has risen by 7.11% since 2021. One-hundred and thirty-nine million metric tons of single-use plastic waste were generated that year.
This only includes waste not being recycled.
May Death be kinder than Man.
==What Are They?==
In December of 2022, Seda and McDonald's launched a collaboration introducing the new Eco Fit Lid to McDonald's locations in Italy. These lids are made entirely out of certified eco-friendly fibers; with a few optimal design benefits such as a reduced need for straws, a tight fit (with an audible snap 😉), and a zero-chance of drink spills on those sharp turns.
==Why Should I Care?==
The correlation between plastic waste and the rise of major fast-food chains is undeniable and has been an issue for years. In fact, a study conducted by authors of nature sustainability found that ~44% of plastic litter in the ocean is linked to fast-food products. All of that is JUST from the ocean, not including the waste still in landfills. Replacing the lids and straws from fast-food drinks would most certainly improve this statistic.
Plastic pollution in the ocean has negatively impacted at least 267 species worldwide, including 86% of sea turtle species, 44% of seabird species, and 43% of marine mammal species. Plastic not only causes injury and death in sea animals; it also alters ecosystems to be more susceptible to climate change, which isn't limited to the sea.
Most people would hear all of this and dismiss it either because they think they hold no power or they simply don't care. However, plastic pollution's wrath doesn't stop at sea animals. As single-use plastic waste increases, ecosystems and natural processes are disrupted, which directly affects the livelihoods of millions of people, food production, and social-wellbeing.
If plastic waste production continues at this rate, the future is filled with exponentially dwindling fauna and flora, leading to overall less vital resources and quality of life. The home we call Earth will be left as nothing but a shell of what it once was and the beauty and life it once held.
May Death be kinder than Man and give these animals peace in a plastic-free world.
May You be kinder than Man and take action.
Current Goal: McDonald's in America
