🔹 The Alternative Commentary Collective (ACC) — with over 400k followers across Facebook, Instagram & X — have backed the campaign. They’ve been sharing since the Mountain Scene front page story, and yesterday posted a video starring local Queenstown dad Kenny from the Black Caps v Sri Lanka T20 in 2023, with the caption:

“We need to bring international cricket back to Queenstown so we can see more shocking attempts at crowd catches like this from Big Kenny!

🔹 Queenstown Cricket Club shared on their Facebook page:

“We have all loved international games of cricket played in Queenstown, unfortunately Queenstown won’t host any games this year. One of our members has started a petition to try and gather support to bring it back to Queenstown. If you would like more games at the Oval you can sign her petition on this link.”

🔹 Queenstown Chamber of Commerce have also thrown their support behind the campaign, saying:

“Pretty sure we can all get behind the idea of bringing world-class sporting events to Queenstown.”

🔹 Councillors & Election Candidates — We’ve emailed QLDC councillors and local election candidates to ask where they stand. Already, over 12 have given positive feedback — showing this is firmly on the agenda in our district.

This shows how quickly momentum is snowballing — from grassroots locals to national media and sporting voices.
