Bring charges for theft of KS horses

The Issue

Help take action against a suspected horse thief and animal abuser!

Thank you for signing our petition to spur the investigation and potential criminal charges against Albert Orosco, a resident of Kansas. Our goal is to convince Mr. M. Levi Morris,

Barton County Attorney, for move ahead with criminal case No. 21-807.

Here’s our understanding of the alleged facts of the case:

Detailed information was sent to Mr. Morris’ office on August 5, 2022, by Gayle Christie, one of the victims of Mr. Orosco’s alleged crimes.  Ms. Christie rescued two horses, Carter and Spirit, in March of 2013 and later sent them to Mr. Orosco on April 3, 2020, to be ridden and exercised for a period of two months. Ms. Christie paid Orosco in advance for the first month and part of the second month for a total of $1,800. After September 13, 2020, Orosco stopped returning Ms. Christie’s calls and text messages.

Subsequently, in December of 2020, Orosco did answer his phone and conveyed he no longer had the horses in his possession. Ms. Christie engaged an attorney to help locate the horses with no success. In July of this year, Mr. Orosco conveyed to Ms. Christie that he had taken her horses to a sale barn in Hutchinson, Kansas. Following that event, the case was referred to Mr. Morris' office by Det. Alex Lomas that same month.

We believe this case warrants further investigation and prosecution for theft of the two animals placed in Orosco’s care and will ask that Mr. Morris take action immediately.

We will deliver all signatures to Mr. Morris soon so that he and his office understand that animal abuse and thievery will not be tolerated by those of us who love animals and who respect justice.
