Bring Caroline’s Carts to Winnipeg Stores for Families With Special Needs Children

The Issue

Every week in Winnipeg, parents push grocery carts with one hand, while holding their child with special needs in the other, trying to keep them safe, calm, and supported in busy stores. Some kids can’t sit in a regular cart. Some have sensory needs. Some get overwhelmed, or need extra physical support. And some simply need the comfort of being close to their caregiver.

Right now, in our city, these families don’t have the tools they need.

They’re forced to struggle through basic errands because stores don’t offer accessible options.

Caroline’s Carts change that.

A Caroline’s Cart gives a child (or adult) a safe, supported seat.

It gives parents two hands, less stress, and more dignity.

It turns a stressful chore into something manageable & even peaceful.

These carts already exist in other cities.

But Winnipeg has been left behind.

For many families here, this isn’t a small inconvenience.

It’s the difference between being able to shop…

and not being able to shop at all.

It’s the difference between a meltdown in the aisle…

and a child feeling safe and secure.

It’s the difference between a parent breaking down in the parking lot…

and a parent finally feeling seen, supported, and included.

This petition is for every parent who has ever:

• carried a growing child through a store because the cart didn’t work

• left a full cart behind because their child couldn’t handle it

• felt judged by strangers

• cried in their car after a hard trip to the store

• wished someone anyone could make things easier

Accessibility shouldn’t be a luxury.

It shouldn’t be something families have to beg for.

It’s 2025.

Winnipeg can do better.

Caroline’s Carts are a simple, affordable, life-changing solution and our community deserves them.

Sign this petition if you believe every parent should be able to shop with dignity, and every child should have a safe place to sit.

Let’s show Winnipeg businesses that families with special needs matter.

Let’s bring Caroline’s Carts to our city.

Together, we can make this happen.
