Here is why Tulsa, OK especially is the PERFECT city to bring the Beyond orange chicken to:
I have been involved in the Tulsa Vegan scene for the past 7 years and Tulsa is incredibly surprising as a vegan hub in the US.
-Panda sold out of Beyond Orange Chicken when it was here so we were not able to purchase as many orders as we would've if it had been kept in stock according to the demand. Often Tulsa gets overlooked as a vegan hub. I am also afraid the launch failed regionally as the locations around Tulsa are smaller and less vegan-friendly. Send it to just the locations in the big city metro area and it will sell.
-Tulsa was voted the 10th most vegan-friendly city in all of America by peta.
-We broke a record this past October with our Vegan Chef Challenge. The Vegan Chef Challenge is a nationwide event where chefs in individual cities release new vegan options for the public to try and vote for their favorites. Tulsa beat out all other US cities for the most chefs competing in the challenge. We had 65 chefs participating and 700+ individuals votes cast by the dining public.
-I run TulsaVeganGuide.com which has over 120 fully detailed vegan menus for restaurants all over Tulsa and over 2,000 monthly views. I also run the Facebook group under the same name "Tulsa Vegan Guide" which has over 7000 followers. We also have another vegan group called Tulsa Vegan Network which has additional members.
-I had the privilege of helping Cinnaholic, a 100% vegan chain restaurant, open their Tulsa location and there was a line wrapping around the shopping center for the entire first day of business from open to close. The original owners had to eventually close the line off to stop accepting orders.
-When Slutty Vegan, a popular restaurant in Atlanta Georgia visited Tulsa for multiple days they sold out every single day in a matter of hours. So many people were complaining about not getting a chance to try their food that they ended up staying in Tulsa an additional day to restock and sell their food again.
What the Vegan was the only fully vegan fast food style Pop-Up here in town and they sold out on a regular basis so people had to make sure to come early to be able to get their vegan fast food. It was so successful they are working on opening a Brick-and-Mortar diner.
-We also used to have a successful vegan magazine here that sold hundreds of copies: Tulsa Vegan Magazine. I only stopped it's distribution to have more time to devote to the Tulsa Vegan Guide website but it was highly successful at the time.
Tulsa is the best place to add to the list of locations carrying the orange chicken. Oklahoma City would also prosper as they have a huge vegan community too.
