I said these words to East Dunbartonshire candidates and councillors at the Count in Bishopbriggs Leisuredrome in May 2022. I thought they'd listened to us. The new SNP-run council said they'd fix it. Instead they splashed out millions of pounds on downgrading regent gardens into a concrete horror that turned a pleasant and accessible park into something resembling a graveyard that disabled people can't use!
"I’d like to thank the people of Kirkintilloch and Twechar, Waterside and Lenzie, I campaigned in all those areas, with my running mate, James Watson; the big issue, apart from the potholes, which everyone talked about, was the disaster which is the “shared space” in Catherine Street. Almost every single person, across the board, no matter what their party politics, they want the traffic lights back. Please East Dunbartonshire Council, just put the traffic lights back! Everyone wants it."
Tell those smarmy candidates and councillors when they chap your door or accost you on the street that we want the traffic lights back and we want them back now!
