The Issue

I , Pavitar Pal Singh, a direct descendant of the Kanhaiya Misl and forefathers of Maharani Mehtab Kaur Ji, respectfully request the Government of India and the UK to bring back the golden throne of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji to Punjab in India.

The throne, currently displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, was taken after the British annexation of Punjab in 1849. It is a sacred symbol of the Sikh Empire, of Punjabi pride, and of our lost sovereignty.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji was not only a great warrior and statesman but also the Sher-e-Punjab whose reign united the Sikh Confederacy into a powerful empire. His first wife, Mehtab Kaur Ji, was the daughter of Sardarni Sada Kaur and belonged to our ancestral Kanhaiya Misl, which played a foundational role in Maharaja's rise.

The throne belongs not in a foreign museum, but in the heart of Punjab — among its people, its soil, and its spiritual institutions. We ask the Indian government to:

✅ Initiate a formal request to the UK Government and Victoria & Albert Museum

✅ Mobilize UNESCO and cultural organizations for repatriation support

✅ House the throne respectfully in a Sikh heritage museum in Punjab

Let this be more than just about artefacts - let this be about honour, justice, and identity.

Sign this petition and stand with us to reclaim our heritage.
