Bring back the Costco Dbl. Choc. Chunk Cookie recipe! (CAFE)
The Issue
Straight up facts:
The chocolate chip cookie in the food court used to always be a nice golden brown crisp on the edges and soft delicacy in the middle, now it is consistently burnt to a dark brittle, at least, across all Salt Lake area locations - I've done the research. Let's get Costco's attention and correct this cookie crime.
Press release:
If you’ve ever bitten into a chocolate chip cookie with high hopes and had them shatter both literally and figuratively, you’ll know my plight. Recently, I had the misfortune of dropping a Costco chocolate chip cookie, and instead of a gentle thud, it emitted a sound more akin to a reckless child smacking a metal bat against rocks. It was hard, it was unyielding, it was nothing like the cookie I knew and loved.
Costco, at least in the Salt Lake City area (maybe beyond for all I know) has changed their chocolate chip cookie recipe or cooking process, and unfortunately, it's not for the better. What used to be a charming mix of slightly crisp edges and an irresistibly gooey center has become a uniformly solid, burnt puck that's a disappointment to both cookie lovers and phonographs everywhere. Like many, I suspect this drastic change is the result of a complaint or misguided lawsuit, but in doing so, Costco has stripped away a small joy from its loyal customers.
This isn’t just about one cookie. It’s about maintaining quality and ensuring customer satisfaction for the countless folks in the Salt Lake area (and anywhere else they tainted the name of their cookie) who look forward to indulging in a treat that has been a staple of enjoyment and comfort. These cookies have been part of family gatherings, celebrations, and countless snack breaks.
We want to remind Costco of the product that once brought people together. The solution is simple: revert to the tried, trusted, and beloved recipe. Countless customers would rejoice in the return of their favorite cookies and be reassured that their voices matter.
Please join me in urging Costco to listen to its loyal patrons. Let’s bring back the cookies that were once a delightful reason to visit their stores. Sign this petition, and together we can be heard! Let's have the joy of biting into a perfect chocolate chip cookie once more.
