On the 22nd of April 2023, Australia (and the world) lost one of its greatest entertainers, Barry Humphries - an actor, comedian, painter, author and satirist.

Humphries just happened to die the very same week that the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (WHICH HE CO-FOUNDED back in 1987) was finishing up for another year.

There was no formal tribute for Humphries at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival's final shows.

And the tribute made to Barry Humphries by MICF on Facebook and Instagram didn't allow public comments. 

Fear of backlash over their disrespectful behaviour perhaps?

Back in 2019, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival organisers stripped Barry Humphries name from their festival's most prestigious award, 'The Barry' over comments he made about transgender people. 

Please sign this petition to get the 'Barry Award' back at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. This award needs to be reinstated.

This great man has now passed away but as Australians - we should honour him!
