In 2024, Starbucks decided to discontinue the Been There Mug Series and replaced it with the newer Discovery Series. This left many collectors with an incomplete collection and are forced to pay for marked-up mugs on Ebay and other sites. The Been There Mug Series was around for just a little longer than 5 years, which is not enough time for the average working individual to complete their collection. This reflects the corporate capitalism of Starbucks which is being prioritized over memories and the love of collecting.
