Bring Back Rent Control In CANADA

Bring Back Rent Control In CANADA
The Issue
Most Proviences had Rent control . Most do not anymore and Rent has skyrocketed in Canada. A I bedroom, in Edmonton is upwards of over 1000.00 a month , shared accomidations, upwards of 600.00.
With families, that is now 2 parents both working and 45% going to pay rent! Both have to work with the cost of living today. Vacations are a luxury, we can't afford. Using credit cards to cover costs at high interest rates. School or savings for education as hard as people try again a luxury. When did education become a luxury. With 45% going to rent, now there is food, lights water, insurance, clothing, medical, Taxes, debt,. The rest of the paycheck is GONE! Now living for next payday, hoping nothing comes up. I know it seems like something else every month.
If we can just get rent under control again college, car, insurance maybe a little in the bank is possible. Less trips to the food BANK,. A good sleep with out worrying about Basic's for the family. Not a lot to ask!
The average median rent amount across Canada was $2,140/month, with Ontario ($2,400), British Columbia ($2,400), and Yukon ($2,150) coming in as the top 3 provinces.Alberta

I did not make these figures up they are off they government rental Page. Where it says 45% of income for rent is now the norm ,is no other word than STUPID. What do we have to scarifice to pay 45% to rent of a place to life, to not be homeless.
I will not get into the Homeless rate per province, but there are approx.35,000 people are homeless! Again from our own Governemnt!
I am on a fixed income and a Pension. I do not receive a full Canada Pension as I have worked at low wage jobs since I was 13, I am now 61. What other kind of a job did the government think I would work at as a teen, and Young adult, cause I sure could not afford college!
When do we get to STOP deciding if we pay something on our water bill or something for our children's grandchildren's THAT THEY NEED, not want NEED.
1,462,795. People go to the food BANK! Yes I got that off the government page again. Do our Provincial leaders not see the problem there! Canadain Government Not see this as a Problem!
Everything from the price of Food to Rent has gone UP a lot more than wages have! I worked min wage jobs for Years, but I worked, and Now I am being punished for it, paying more than I can afford for the Basic's, not my Wants ,but Needs, water, lights, food, rent, Nothing for clothing, gifts, or a single luxury. Every month I try and figure out what I can cut off so I can pay the BASIC'S.
Lets tell the Government we have HAD ENOUGH. Tell the landloards and Slumloards enough. We are a great country, and we are being forced to live in poverty because of OUR Cost of rent.
Bring Back RENT Control
In an affordable housing newser on Wednesday, Community and Social Services Minister Jeremy Nixon said rent control is not on the government’s radar at all and the province is focused on affordable, low-income housing.
“We’re focused on increasing the supply of affordable housing, to make sure that we have options for Albertans to address the increasing rent prices,” Nixon told reporters.
“I agree that rent is something that should be affordable, but what we’ve seen with rent caps in other jurisdictions is it can have an immediate impact long term and creates long-term challenges.”
Can someone Please tell me what the Challenges would be, to be able to live, without worried about FOOD OR RENT. This is Canada and This should Never be a which one can we HAVE, they are the dam Basic's to Live.
Stop Saying get a second job, Families are already spending way to much time away from each other, family meals, vactions out of reach, When did a family all get to sit down for a meal together! I was lucky I am from the 60's my mom didn't work, dinner was a family in the eve, this is not the normal now! We don't need a second JOB we need rent we can afford, so we don't need to worry about how to buy shoes for kids, Xmas gifts, a small thing as a dam ICE CREAM for our kids grandkids, family time is so very important!
Rent is affecting our Health! Putting more strain on hospitals, Mental Health Issues, good luck getting a referral and in before a year! Skipping meals, I have done this so my kids had MORE! Cry many tears at night where no one see's me because I don't know how else I can Help my Family! Having said Sorry so many times, when asked for something, It breaks my heart! It has caused me depression, mental health issues, self worth. I am trying as hard as I can !
