Homelessness...It could happen to anyone..It could well be Me or YOU..This is why this petition matters..We need to be heard..We deserve a safe, affordable place to Live! There is not room for the word OR..when talking about our basic needs...AND not OR.
I watch the news..and Yes I feel for the people in War Zones.. Hospitals being bombed...People with no where to go...Its dam scary to watch and I am thankful I don't live there..But this is not about Helping other Countries. I am all for that..When WE have Looked after our OWN COUNTRY TOO!
We are in trouble right now...not tomorrow or next month RIGHT NOW!
I had an appointment on Friday at the Lab...Sitting there with a lot of other people I saw so many people with their Passports.. odd I have a passport..I don't take it to the doctor with me! Then I watched the News..something that I don't always do for fear of breaking my TV.
A new immigration is coming to Canada.Columbia, Venezulean,Haitians..if sponsered..they are coming...Again this is not a policical post! So all the people with the passports are getting medicals, shots and tests apon entering..
Where are they going to LIVE! They can't all live with the people who sponsed them.. I have been to South America I am gonna wage a bet they don't have a lot of money when they get here!! We are in a crisis right now trying to put food on our tables and afford a place to live... I don't understand the immigration laws and I don't have a degree to try and read through it all to understand it..all I know is We are in trouble now...and Yet the gates just keep staying opan. Again I feel for the people in the Middle East, and Ukraine...But I am in need of a place to live that I can afford right now too.
I have written this before but I will write it again!
Between 25,000 to 35,000 people are homless on any given night in Canada..
Toronto has the highest at 67% are Male.
Another tells me 20% of Canadain homeless are youths between 13-34 at least 35,000 to 40,000.When living on the streets is saver than home..thats Sad but for some kids it is a realitity!
235,000 a year experience some kind of homelessness a Year!
If thoughs numbers don't make you mad they should!
We can't just say well it's not me..cause it effects all of us..from petty crime..to Mental health to ER over crowding to the increbile 8 hours you have to wait.Insurance,police, everything is effected by theses numbers!
Main reason Affordable Housing! See they know what the reason is they are just not doing much about it!
National Housing Stardigy is going to create housing, renovate and repair in the next 10 years...WE CAN"T WAIT 10 YEARS.
We need affordable housing now...not some pie chart of how much they are going to try and do in 10 years..I can't afford to wait 10 years.
As a Canadain we are not asking for much here..just a place to live that is safe, that WE can afford! It doesn;t take a government think tank to know we are in trouble now..ask any person on the streets of your own town big or small...We need to get this past and we need to get it done now!
The Slumloards aren't gonna like it...to bad they must have a lot of cash put awy now cause they cartainly are not using it to fix up the places they HAVE. 3 years and my sink is still broken! 3 years and my bathroom celing is still falling in...5 or more times my car has been broken into...I don't even lock it anymore cause I can't keep paying for windows! I don't leave anything of value in it but they look anyhow! Sleeping with my baseball bat close at hand becaue 3 times in a year someone has tried to come in my window!
Hours on websites for food...looking for the lowest price..the deals..the what I can afford..put something on...take something off..I can Just keep adding more water to my juice... Being told by my Doctor eat healthier...I would if I could afford it Doc. But 10$ for grapes..well I have to pass on them...3 pork chops 9$ better make them stretch for 5 meals and I do. Kids going to school Hungry..they can't learn..they can't concentrate....they will fall behind wondering if the hot lunch is ready for them today...Parents skipping meals so there is more of the KIDS...this is doing nothing but making us sick,,unable to work..hard on the health care system..the mental health..and our well being!
Canada is not a poor country...yet every month I am in the poor house..Adding in my overdraft to my bank account, its not my money and I pay high price for being in my overdraft but it has saved me more than once!
So I urge you to please keep passing it on..keep making nosie..We will be heard..they can't keep us quiet...
Its time to say ENOUGH! Not 10years from now..no pie charts and think tanks..do something and do it NOW because we are in a crisis! No more empty promises! We have heard them all..and we are sick and tired of being sick and tired!
