Almost one million BC residents in BC have no family practitioner. These doctors form the essential core of our entire medical system. As a consequence, up to 2000 BC lives per year are being lost. Countless others will suffer as their chronic medical conditions will worsen. Treatable cancers may well become untreatable. No-one will be available to monitor infant’s and children’s development. Common conditions like diabetes and high blood-pressure will lack supervision resulting in complications like strokes, heart attacks and loss of vision. Patient anxiety will be rampant. The blame for this situation lies with the lack of will and ability by the BC provincial government. They  alone can rectify this unacceptable situation which has occurred on their watch.

Unfortunately politicians only respond meaningfully to public pressure. BC Health Care Matters is the only organization specifically focused on demanding that the government provide access to a family practitioners for every resident of BC. The more supporters we have, the greater chance of success. We already have nearly 50,000 signatures on our petition. Join us now!
