For years, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television hosted Family Fan Day – a free, kid-friendly event during Canadian Screen Week where families could meet and greet their favourite Canadian stars from TV, film, news, weather, morning shows, reality TV, and competition shows. enjoy performances, games, giveaways, and activities. 

Then came COVID-19. In March 2020, the Academy postponed Family Fan Day “and looked forward to sharing more details about the rescheduled event in the near future.”

That rescheduled date never came. The event has not returned in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026. The official page (academy.ca/familyfanday) still only shows the postponement notice with no updates.

We miss it. and Toronto families miss it.

We, the undersigned, call on the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television to officially bring back Family Fan Day as a free annual event during Canadian Screen Week in Toronto.

Please restore this beloved tradition so everyone of all ages can once again meet their favourite stars!
