Bring Back Delcastle Aviation Maintenance Technology!

Bring Back Delcastle Aviation Maintenance Technology!
The Issue
As an underrepresented minority in the aviation field, I have been granted opportunities in this shop I would have never experienced. I am deeply saddened and concerned to learn that Delcastle and the NCCVT school district have decided to terminate this program. This decision not only goes against the core beliefs of the NCCVT district but also violates a contract that every student in the aviation program has signed. It is imperative that we come together to bring back Delcastle's aviation program!
I joined this program with great enthusiasm, eager to pursue my passion for aviation. The hands-on experience, industry-relevant curriculum, and my dedicated instructor have provided me with invaluable skills and knowledge. However, now I find myself facing an uncertain future as Delcastle expects us juniors and sophomores to transfer to another career area.
This abrupt termination disregards all the time we have invested in this field. It undermines our dreams of pursuing careers in aviation while leaving us without suitable alternatives.
Here are some key facts regarding this issue:
1. Demand for Skilled Aviation Technicians: The demand for skilled aviation maintenance technicians is on the rise due to an aging workforce and increased air travel worldwide (Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics).
2. Educational Opportunities: By offering an aviation maintenance technology program at Delcastle, students are provided unique opportunities like SkillsUSA, co-op jobs, apprenticeships, and well-paying careers.
3. Commitment Violation: Terminating this successful program violates our contractual agreement as students who were selected for the aviation maintenance technology program, and breaches the agreement signed by students and parents.
By bringing back Delcastle's aviation program:
1. Students who have invested their time and effort in this field can continue to pursue their passion and achieve their career goals.
2. We uphold the values of the NCCVT district, which promotes excellence in career and technical education, by reinstating a program that has demonstrated its value.
I urge you to sign this petition and join me in demanding that Delcastle High School and the NCCVT district reconsider their decision to terminate the aviation maintenance technology program. Let's support quality education, promising careers, and a brighter future for all students involved!
Together, we can make a difference!
