Prior to 1942, Creighton University had a collegiate football team. With many students being drafted to WWII, the university decided to suspend football and basketball competition. After the war, basketball was brought back, but President William McHabe, S.J., drafted a letter explaining that Creighton football would cease due to financial constraints. Fast forward almost 80 years, and Creighton is still without a football program at any level of collegiate play.

The intent of this petition is to raise awareness of this and to convince Creighton administration and potential donors to explore the feasibility of reinstating the football program. Although costs are high, college football is the most lucrative NCAA sport, and would further foster a campus culture of camaraderie (hello tailgating?) and team spirit.
