You are not imagining this! Around Albuquerque New Mexico, there have been these sensor like DEVICES popping up all over the city's streetlights! Not everywhere, but are showing up on some of our city's lights! Some people have asked me if these were cameras or some surveillance device. However I have debunked this theory because ON THE LEFT of your screen, AN EMERGENCY SENSOR TRAFFIC LIGHT CONTROLLER is spotted WHILE on the top of the LIGHT POLE is just a NORMAL CCTV traffic check to ensure safety of cars driving through intersections. *NO IT'S NOT SURVEILLANCE! I CAN CONFIRM THIS* From some resources on the PICTURE ON YOUR RIGHT, I have found out through SOME CONTRACTS that often IMPLY temperature regulations for light differences. Since my update on 01/14/2026, I have lashed out in frustration about THE USE of WHITE LEDS in abq nm citing the harm they are already doing to the city. If you haven't seen that update, go check it out. However IN SOME CONTRACTS like Dalkia (WHICH CAN BE SHIFTED or CHANGED when COMPLAINTS ABOUT infrastructure LIKE WHITE LEDS has gone to far) CAN recreate OR RETROFIT the AMBER TONED GLOW on these lights!
Sadly Dalkia CAN'T just end their contract, but MAY HAVE MADE SOME MAJOR ADJUSTMENTS to add or EVEN work on a BETTER SOLUTION for amber lighting and dark sky compliance! Dalkia has renewed their contract TILL 2034, meaning YES SADLY we are stuck with WHITE LEDS. But NOT ALL HOPE is lost! that SMALL BOX LIKE DEVICE could be a RETROFIT for AMBER LED technologies WHICH DALKIA has PUT IN THEIR PREVIOUS CONTRACTS for changes that often DISCOMBOBULATE INFRASTRUCTURE or COLLAPSE THE ECONOMY. Meaning THEY may have added TEMPERATURE CONTROLLING DEVICES to tone the 3000K and 4000K streetlights to THAT NICE 2200K and A TURQUOISE blend in these lights! However, it IS SUGGESTED that you do contact city officials or council and REQUEST that they can DISCUSS better lighting solutions for our city!
