Bring back ABC ME for kids, tweens, and teens
The issue
Growing up, one of my fondest memories was watching 'Thunderbirds Are Go' and other children’s programs on ABC ME. Those shows weren’t just entertainment; they were a gateway to different worlds, sparking imagination and learning in a way that only children's programming can. Now, I watch with concern as today’s kids are deprived of that experience, forced to wait for suitable programming on ABC Entertains, which often prioritizes adult content.
ABC ME was a sanctuary for children’s imagination, creativity, and learning. It was a channel dedicated solely to them, offering a variety of both classic and new shows crafted specifically for young minds. This is why I'm calling for the reinstatement of ABC ME. I want today's kids, tweens, and teens to experience the same joy and wonder that I did.
Imagine a place where a young person can turn on the TV and find content that makes them laugh, dream, and learn, just like 'Thunderbirds Are Go' did for me. Shows that cater to their specific age group and interests, fostering both nostalgia and new experiences. These are crucial years for young viewers, and it’s essential they have dedicated programming tailored for their development.
In proposing the return of ABC ME, I suggest moving ABC Entertains to channel 25, focusing that channel on adult programming. This way, both young viewers and adults have dedicated spaces. Kids can enjoy a channel full of shows made just for them anytime they turn on the TV, and adults can access their preferred content without overlapping with children's programming.
Another driving reason I think we should bring back ABC Me is that during times of natural disasters I know personally from firsthand experience that kids can be a little bit unsettling and some parents might not be able to let the children use their phones to watch shows that could burn up data quickly so I personally think that this would be a great substitute to make sure the children are settled for a few hours whilst the parents can focus on keeping families safe whilst having their full attention on that task
It's time to prioritize the entertainment and education of our youth, providing them with a dedicated channel that’s just for them. Let’s bring back ABC ME and give our kids a gift of fulfilling, exciting, and educational television programming.
