Bring Amy Johnson's plane back to Hull

The Issue

The Hull Daily Mail has joined campaigners and local MPs Diana Johnson, Alan Johnson and Karl Turner in calling for the Science Museum in London to agree to the temporary transfer of Amy Johnson's Gipsy Moth aircraft to Hull for public exhibit at the Amy Johnson Festival in 2016 and the City of Culture celebrations in 2017. Amy Johnson was a Hull-born aviator and adventurer who received tremendous support and loyalty from the people of Hull. In return Amy remained close to her city of birth. It would be fitting, in the 75th year after her death, that her historic aircraft "Jason" were transferred to Hull for public exhibition to mark her historic role in the city and inspire a generation whose imagination can be fired by her skill, spirit and bravery.
