Bring Aldi to Pittsburgh’s Northside

The Issue

The title speaks for itself. Two grocery stores are simply not enough for the entirety of Pittsburgh's Northside neighborhood, which consists of roughly 40,000 residents. Residents should not need to drive or take the bus to get groceries—they should be able to walk.

Expecting thousands of residents to drive or take public transportation is bad for the environment. The city seems to put a lot of emphasis on enviormental sustainability, and bringing additional grocery options to the neighborhood aligns with that vision.

Additionally, many residents do not plan to stay in the area long-term solely due to lack of grocery options. Bringing an Aldi to the neighborhood will provide a sense of relief to many of those residents.

We need to focus on limiting the need to drive places. Northside is a rapidly changing neighborhood and residents (specifically, Chateau/Manchester/Allegheny West) should be able to walk out their doors to grab groceries.
