Bridge Industrial Bullies Non Profit Monkey Sanctuary!
The Issue
The Dania Beach Vervet Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation and care of at-risk former pet monkeys and wild monkeys. This sanctuary operates primarily on donations and self-funding to continue its critical work. Unfortunately, the recent actions of Bridge Industrial have jeopardized the sanctuary's operations and the surrounding environment.
During construction, Bridge Industrial representatives made several verbal agreements with the Director of the Sanctuary which continued to allow volunteers to perform business as usual. This included parking on site and allowing a truck to deliver fresh water twice a month.
They have since changed the narrative, now negating these verbal agreements.
In fact, they literally erected a fence that blocks one of the sanctuary’s two main exits while volunteers were actively working inside, thus blocking their escape route and hindering their ability to perform essential tasks.
For over a decade, the sanctuary has used the northern access as a functional and trusted route, fostering goodwill and positive community relations. However, Bridge Industrial has now chosen to block this access without regard for the long-standing arrangement.
Additionally, Bridge Industrial has insisted that the sanctuary face its perimeter security cameras away from their property. The sanctuary, however, is legally entitled to monitor its own grounds, especially given that parking lots are public spaces where there is no expectation of privacy. Bridge's demand is not only unreasonable but also infringing upon the sanctuary’s rights.
Despite offering to sign waivers to address Bridge Industrial’s safety concerns—just as the sanctuary has done for other businesses—Bridge refuses to allow such agreements. The sanctuary’s goal is to continue its vital work while maintaining respect for the surrounding community and environment. However, Bridge Industrial’s actions are directly hindering this mission.
We are calling for Bridge Industrial to be a respectful neighbor in the name of community. The Dania Beach Vervet Project needs a solution that allows it to operate effectively while preserving the sanctuary's long-standing relationship with the area.
We ask for your support in advocating for a fair, respectful resolution that will ensure the sanctuary can continue its work without interference. Sign the petition to help us protect both the monkeys we serve and the environment we all share.
