FIRST ONE:
Good afternoon Mrs. Muñoz,
Thank you for your email.
This morning, we responded to your February 7th email. As mentioned in the memo attached to that response, the Village Green remains available for recreational use by Brickell Key Association Members and their guests. As has been the case for over twenty years, the only organized events or activities permitted at the Village Green are those sponsored by BKMA. As we also mentioned, allowing organized sports and/or trainings on the South Lawn will be discussed at the next BKMA Board meeting which is set for February 26th.
Please reach out to the President of your association and ask them to represent your views at the discussion. There are multiple interests to manage and we would like to hear from as many residents as possible.
Best regards,
SECOND ONE:
Good morning Mrs. Muñoz,
While I understand you are looking for an immediate approval to use the South Lawn and/or Village Green for organized activities, BKMA does not have the authority to grant immediate permission for this type of activity. As we mentioned in the memo, “the South Lawn property owner (Swire Properties) is cognizant of our residents’ increased requests to use the South Lawn for organized sports and/or trainings, due to the reality of indoor activities being limited due to COVID-19, and is currently considering the implications of allowing organized sports and/or trainings on the South Lawn as a result of this unique demand due to the pandemic. This will be discussed at the next BKMA Board meeting on 26th February and we will update you, our community, shortly thereafter.”
As has been the case for over twenty years, the Village Green remains open as a Brickell Key community venue for the recreational use of its Association Members and their guests. The only organized events or activities which are permitted at the Village Green are those sponsored by BKMA (which have been postponed since March 2020).
Any organized activities on the South Lawn or Village Green where outside vendors were hired and scheduled were conducted without approval from BKMA. Just as you have expressed concern over the inability to have scheduled activities, other members of the BK community have expressed concern that these organized activities have diminished their ability to peacefully enjoy Brickell Key’s outdoor green space. As always, we are willing to discuss solutions which balance all parties’ interests and we encourage all views to be expressed at the Board meetings (the next one is February 26th). Please reach out to the President of your association and ask them to represent your views at the discussion.
