Save Georgia First Responders

The Issue

Hello everyone,

I am starting a petition to send to Georgia State legislators in an attempt to have PTSD added to workers compensation laws. I am a paramedic and have worked in public safety almost my entire adult life. In my career I have been privy to very disturbing and stressful scenes. As having been exposed to such trauma over an extended period of time I was diagnosed with CPTSD. Since my diagnosis two and a half years ago, many of my friends and colleagues have lost their battle with PTSD. I’m sick and tired of burying these brave people so needlessly. PTSD is treatable and is killing our police officers, fire fighters, emts and medics. We need these individuals in our communities to keep us safe and protect us from those that would do us harm.

What I’m asking for is signatures to support this very laudable cause to send to our legislators. In doing so I am hoping that with enough support and voice we can make a change for once that benefits our first responder community. As it stands current labor laws in Georgia cover PTSD if it is connected with a physical injury, however it is more likely to experience PTSD from traumatic experiences in the workplace. Thank you all for your time in reading and for your support! Let’s make a change!
