On June 17, 2020, the Fulton County District Attorney, Paul Howard held a press conference regarding the shooting of Rayshard Brooks. Despite the video showing otherwise, Howard stated that Brooks cooperated and "never" got violent with the police. Howard attempted to "try the case" in the public.

As you can see on the video of the incident, upon the attempt to arrest him, Brooks immediately started fighting with the police, throwing them on the ground, punched one of the officers, stole his taser, and then turned and fired the taser at one of the officer's face after running a few steps.

Additionally, Howard, during the press conference, stated that one of the officers would be testifying for the state against Rolfe (the officer who allegedly shot Brooks). The officer's attorney stated that the officer did not agree to testify against Rolfe. 

Furthermore, Howard did not notify the GBI of his press conference announcing charges against the police officers, nor did he wait until the GBI finished their investigation. Lawyers are held to a high standard, including making statements that could prejudice the proceeding. At the very minimum, Howard violated this standard of the Georgia Bar Association's rules. https://www.gabar.org/Handbook/index.cfm#handbook/rule80

We do not feel that Paul Howard is a good representative of the people, and does not fairly treat those he prosecutes. Because of his behavior during the press conference regarding the charging of the police officers and his other conduct, for which he is under investigation for, we believe that Howard should be disbarred.
