Killing Iditarod dogs with counterfeit opioids
Iditarod mushers dope their dogs during training. Opioids containing fentanyl kill dogs. Counterfeit opioids are cheap and easy to get in Alaska. How many Iditarod dogs have died in training? Photo of 2 milligrams of fentanyl, a lethal dose in dogs. (DEA photo.)
Pills or their chemical ingredients come to the United States from Mexico or China. After chemicals arrive here, many pills are made in homes using pill presses. The pills are made to look like the originals. Pill presses can make thousands of pills at a time. These home pill mills are like the home meth labs that were in this country years ago.
