After Meeting Excitement!!

So as of Monday I have presented this petition and a proposal for a single-use plastic bag ban and received great response from the council in regards to looking into imposing a ban. They are moving quickly with things and I have received an email with an update on exactly how things are going to be moving forwards via the city council! Below is that exciting email!!

“On behalf of His Worship the Mayor and the Councillors I would like to thank you for your presentation at Monday evening’s meeting with respect to a ban on single use plastic bags in the City of Brandon.  Thank you for all your hard work on this important cause.  Please be advised that City Council adopted the following resolution with respect to your presentation:

That the presentation by Jenna Bardarson with respect to a ban on single use plastic bags in the City of Brandon be received; and further, that the matter be referred to Administration for a report back to Council to include consideration of initiatives from other levels of government, opportunities to work with the business community, and authority to impose a ban.”

By way of copying this email we are requesting the Environmental Coordinator Ms. Lindsay Hargreaves to provide a report back to City Council on this issue.  I’m sure if Ms. Hargreaves has any questions she will be contacting you.  Thanks again for taking time out of your busy life to share this information with City Council and the viewing audience.”
