The Issue

Throughout the history of science, women have made remarkable contributions to the knowledge, progress, and discoveries present within the scientific community. These contributions have expanded our understanding of the world that occurs around us and within our own bodies. However, many of the names of these women are still unknown, and historically women have not been given credit for the discoveries they have made. Along with teaching students about remarkable women scientists, the intention of this course is to teach students about trends of discrimination, intersectionality, and how to navigate fields that are not intrinsically set up for them.

This course has previously been taught by Scholar Dr. Pnina Abir-Am from the Brandeis Women's Research Center at universities such as Johns Hopkins University and University of California Berkeley.
