Everyday the locals witness accidents and speeding drivers on the A658 Apperley Lane down to Harrogate Road Apperley Bridge. With a lack of speed enforcement, bad surfaced road we are seeking improvements to Harrogate Road in the form of Speed Cameras (average) and new road surfaces.

In 2016 an investigation took place to monitor the road and as a result 15% of road users were travelling over 36mph. At the time this was deemed as ‘ok’ despite people being killed, with many incidents taking place and not being reported. 

Yet 5 years on of reporting issues, evidence of collisions Bradford Council are showing a complete lack of duty of care to this community, with no interest to the issues and accidents that consistently take place on this stretch of road. 

Despite Janet Herd, Linda Taney and Isma Nawaz, all loosing there lives on this road, no improvements have been made. To the extent the Council do not feel the road meets any criteria to warrant any improvements to the speed enforcement or road surface!

In the last 14 days alone there has been 8 collisions, and with a School, several junctions, pubs and pelican crossings, there is a requirement for these improvements as a matter of urgency. 

Why does it take further people to be killed and harmed before Bradford Council deem the road as having the criteria for improvements?
