This is the time when our voices will be heard. Our politicians need something from us this year, our votes. Things have been moving in the wrong direction when it comes animal welfare regulations and oversight in factory farming. I will be reaching out to the congressman's office again very soon. I would like to remind both him and his staff, that there are over 36,000 of us, and that is support to either be gained or lost by what is done, or not done. This petition is a mix of people. Many are like myself, and choose not to eat meat, and there many who do eat meat. Where we all agree is that things can't continue the way they are now. Systematically torturing and killing sensitive intelligent animals is wrong. No matter how many pigs I see when I am giving them water on the trucks, my heart breaks for them every time . To me, it is like seeing truck loads of scared, thirsty, hungry, tired, dogs that are about to be killed. The saddest thing is looking into their eyes and seeing that they are broken. We are fighting a system that has money behind it. We have the numbers. There are so many people who agree this is wrong. This petition is about letting our politicians know how we feel. Brad Sherman received his 11th consecutive award from the Humane Society. This is a very admirable achievement. He quoted Gandhi, "the greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated". Shouldn't that include pigs as well?
