Our residents association has looked at the platforms and spoken to many of the provincial candidates running in Beaches East-York. After reviewing this through a housing lens, our group is happy to give Kate Dupuis (NDP) the top score from the Beaches Residents Association.
While all parties have worth-while components from their housing platforms, Kate earned top marks for her position on the importance of robust community consultation and prioritizing deeply affordable housing. In Toronto, over 81,000 people languish on the waitlist which can take up to 10 years. She also is a strong advocate for keeping public assets public. Something we believe is critical to ensure this housing remains deeply affordable in perpetuity.
Kate is a clinical neuropsychologist and researcher who specializes in the health and well-being of others. She is smart. She is articulate. She is compassionate. She is an independent critical thinker and is entering politics for all the right reasons. We urge you to see it for yourself at the upcoming debate, Monday May 30th at 7:30 pm, hosted at the Kingston Road United Church.
If you believe that deeply affordable housing for those most in need is a key priority for our community, please consider supporting Kate Dupuis on June 2nd. She would be a smart and hardworking representative who will help those in need while also being considerate to our community.
